How to Choose a Wooden Cat Treadmill That Sells

Cat treadmills (also called cat wheels) have moved from a niche enrichment product to a best-seller in the US and EU pet market. But not every wheel converts browsers into buyers. 1. Diameter Decides Who Can Use It

The runner diameter determines the size of cat that can comfortably exercise. A wheel that is too small forces an unnatural stride and cats will simply ignore it.

• Under 90cm — suitable for kittens and small cats only
• 100–110cm — the sweet spot for most adult domestic cats
• 120cm+ — recommended for Maine Coons, Ragdolls and other large breeds

2. Runner Surface & Tread Material

Look for a closed-cell EVA or carpet runner that is soft on paws, easy to vacuum, and replaceable. Open-cell foam absorbs urine and odor — a common cause of returns. Ask your supplier whether replacement runners are available separately; this is a strong aftermarket revenue line for retailers.

3. Noise Level Is a Deal-Breaker for Apartment Buyers

A well-built wheel uses dual sealed bearings and a rubber-damped base. Request a video of the wheel spinning freely — a quality wheel should spin for 15+ seconds after a single push and stay under 40 dB at normal running speed.

4. Materials & Finishes That Photograph Well
